Overview
Southern Chile offers a unique combination of skiable volcanoes, temperate forests, lakes and hot springs. This compact campervan expedition is designed to take advantage of that diversity without being locked into one hotel reservation or one predetermined mountain.
After meeting in Temuco, the group travels in a fully equipped 4×4 campervan. Each day’s objective is selected according to snowfall, freezing level, wind, volcanic access, road conditions and avalanche hazard. Potential objectives include Lonquimay, Llaima, Tolhuaca, Sierra Nevada, Villarrica, Quetrupillán and other backcountry areas.
The route may connect Malalcahuello, Pucón and the Lakes District, but it may also remain in only one or two regions if that is where the best skiing is found. Meals are not included. We will stop for groceries and local food along the route, and guests can use the campervan kitchen.
